Wells Fargo is seeking a Benefits Operations Consultant – India is responsible for end‑to‑end operational delivery of employee benefits programs in India, ensuring accurate execution, strong controls, regulatory compliance, vendor performance, and an excellent employee experience. This role will act as the primary operations owner for India benefits, partnering closely with Global Benefits, HR Business Partners, Payroll, Finance, Legal, Business, and external vendors to ensure benefits programs are delivered seamlessly, compliantly, and at scale. The role requires a strong balance of hands‑on operational leadership, risk and controls mindset, and continuous process improvement, with the ability to manage complexity in a regulated environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Participate in developing, implementing, and monitoring one or more Benefits programs designed to meet company and individual needs
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships with Employee Service Center, Accounting, Legal, and other internal departments to ensure successful program design and implementation
  • Review individuals needs and resolve problems of moderate scope where research of situations or data require a review of identifiable factors
  • Be responsible for providing recommendations and overseeing communications of benefits to individuals
  • Present recommendations for Benefits programs and exercise judgment within company policy and plan documents, as well as related practices, precedents, and procedures
  • Collaborate and consult with functional colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders related to Benefits operations
  • Own day‑to‑day operations for India benefits programs including medical insurance, leaves, retirals, ancillary benefits, and wellness programs.
  • Ensure accurate configuration, administration, and maintenance of benefits programs in HR systems.
  • Lead annual enrolment execution end‑to‑end, including readiness, testing, communications coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Act as the point of escalation for complex employee benefit issues, ensuring timely and fair resolution.
  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors, insurers, TPAs, brokers, and administrators
  • monitor service delivery against SLAs.
  • Lead vendor performance reviews, issue management, invoicing validation, and operational governance.
  • Partner with Procurement and Finance on contract management, renewals, and invoice approvals.
  • Own and execute operational controls, process documentation, and evidence management for audits, RCSA, and risk reviews.
  • Ensure benefits operations comply with Indian statutory and regulatory requirements, internal policies, and global governance standards.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, control gaps, and remediation actions, partner with Risk and Compliance teams to close issues.
  • Drive process simplification, standardization, and automation across benefits operations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve data quality, and enhance employee experience.
  • Support implementation of new tools, system enhancements, and global initiatives impacting India benefits.
  • Provide operational leadership and guidance to benefits operations team members and shared service partners.
  • Partner closely with HRBPs to support employee‑centric outcomes while balancing policy, risk, and cost considerations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Benefits leadership by providing insights on operational trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of Benefits experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Deep understanding of India benefits landscape, including insurance, leave administration, and statutory requirements.
  • Proven experience managing controls, audits, compliance, and risk in an HR or operations environment.
  • Strong vendor management and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience working in a large, complex, global organization with matrixed stakeholders.
