Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established local authority and support a busy revenues and benefits team during a period of high demand. The Role You will be responsible for assessing Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Support claims, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with current legislation.

Job Responsibility

  • Assess new and change of circumstance claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of benefits legislation and policy
  • Provide excellent customer service when dealing with enquiries
  • Work collaboratively within a team to manage workload effectively

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Benefits Assessor within a local authority
  • Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support regulations
  • Experience using relevant systems (e.g. Northgate/Capita or similar)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload
