The Benefits Analyst is responsible for the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of employee benefit programs, with a specialized focus on workplace accommodations, disability-related benefits, workers compensation, and regulatory compliance. This role serves as a subject-matter expert on the workers compensation and accommodations process, partnering closely with HR, Legal, managers, and external vendors to ensure employees receive timely, compliant, and equitable support.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee accommodation requests
Manage the interactive accommodation process in compliance with regulations
Review medical documentation and functional limitations to identify reasonable accommodations
Partner with managers to implement accommodations, transitional duty, or modified work arrangements
Coordinate accommodations with workers' compensation, FMLA, state leave, and disability programs
Manage workers' compensation third party administrators
Maintain accurate, confidential records related to accommodations, injuries, and medical documentation
Administer and support health, welfare, disability, leave, and workers' compensation--adjacent benefit programs
Monitor trends related to accommodations, disability claims, workplace injuries, and return-to-work outcomes
Identify opportunities to improve accommodation timeliness
Support annual benefits renewal and open enrollment activities
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Partner with Legal, Employee Relations, Risk, and Safety on complex cases
Support audits, documentation requests, and data reporting
Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures
Educate employees and managers on accommodation processes
Provide guidance to HR partners and leaders
Serve as a trusted advisor in resolving accommodation-related concerns
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Health Administration, or a related field
3--5+ years of experience in benefits administration, accommodations, disability management, and/or workers' compensation coordination
Strong working knowledge of ADA/ADAAA, FMLA, PWFA, and foundational workers' compensation concepts
Experience managing complex, overlapping accommodation, leave, disability, and injury-related cases
Ability to handle sensitive medical and injury-related information with discretion
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High emotional intelligence and employee-centered approach
Ability to balance compliance, operational needs, and employee experience
Strong judgment in managing medically and legally sensitive cases
Excellent organization and documentation practices
Nice to have:
Experience supporting return-to-work or modified duty programs
Exposure to multi-state workers' compensation environments
HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or similar)
Experience working with third-party leave, disability, or workers' compensation vendors
