We are seeking a proactive and compassionate Behavioural Support Assistant to join a highly regarded SEN school in Sutton. This role is specifically designed for an individual who thrives in a specialist setting, working with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASD), or other complex learning difficulties. You will be a vital pillar of support, helping students manage their emotions, engage with their learning, and build the social skills necessary for a successful future.
Job Responsibility:
Crisis Intervention: Utilise positive de-escalation techniques (such as Team Teach or Price) to support students during moments of crisis, ensuring a safe environment for all.
1:1 Mentoring: Work closely with assigned students to identify behavioural triggers and implement bespoke 'Positive Behaviour Support' (PBS) plans.
Social & Emotional Learning: Lead small-group interventions focused on emotional regulation, social cues, and conflict resolution.
Classroom Integration: Support the class teacher in delivering a modified curriculum, ensuring that lessons are accessible and engaging for students with sensory or cognitive barriers.
Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed records of student behaviour and emotional wellbeing, providing high-quality feedback to the SENCO, therapists, and parents.
Holistic Support: Assist with students' personal development, including building self-esteem, life skills, and independent living strategies.
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young adults with SEN or SEMH needs
