Job Description

Behavioural Support Assistant | SEMH & Mentorship | Local Secondary Schools. Position: Full-Time, Long-Term (Term Time Only). Salary: £90 - £95 per day (Weekly Pay - dependent on experience). Start Date: Immediate / Next Term. Are you a resilient, patient individual with the 'thick skin' and empathy required to help students overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking dedicated Behavioural Mentors to work with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11). This role is perfect for those who want to make a tangible difference in the lives of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or those who display challenging behaviour. Impact Beyond the Grades: Act as a stabilizer in the classroom, helping students regulate their emotions and remain engaged in their education. Specialised Career Path: This is the perfect springboard for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Social Workers, Youth Justice Workers, or SEN Teachers. Work-Life Balance: Enjoy typical school hours (approx. 8:30 am - 3:30 pm) with no 'take-home' work-giving you the space to recharge after a high-energy day. Weekly Pay: Competitive daily rates of £90 - £95 per day, paid every Friday via Randstad. Your Role as a Behavioural Mentor: De-escalation & Support: Recognise triggers and use low-level de-escalation techniques to prevent classroom disruptions and keep students on task. 1:1 & Small Group Mentorship: Work closely with specific students to build rapport, improve their social skills, and boost their self-esteem through structured intervention. Inclusion Support: Assist the school's Inclusion or 'Bridge' unit, providing a safe space for students who find the mainstream classroom environment overwhelming. Collaborative Strategy: Work alongside the SENCO and Pastoral Leads to implement individual behaviour plans (IBPs) and ensure a consistent approach to student welfare.
