Job Description:

Affinity Workforce Solutions are partnering with a specialist educational setting that is seeking a Behaviour Support Worker to work with pupils who have additional learning needs, starting immediately. The primary focus of this role is to provide support around social, emotional, and mental health needs, with aspects of Autism, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties also involved. As each child is different, the responsibilities will vary, and your strategies must be adapted to suit the individual requirements of each pupil. This position is highly rewarding and involves guiding the child’s progress in collaboration with the classroom teacher and the SENCO. Many students will need one-to-one assistance and will follow an Individual Education Plan (IEP). You will play a key role in helping them reach their personalised academic, social, and emotional targets set by educational professionals.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support around social, emotional, and mental health needs, with aspects of Autism, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties
  • Adapt strategies to suit the individual requirements of each pupil
  • Guide the child’s progress in collaboration with the classroom teacher and the SENCO
  • Provide one-to-one assistance
  • Help students reach their personalised academic, social, and emotional targets set by educational professionals

Requirements:

  • Excited about working with children and being creative
  • Experience managing a class in the absence of the class Teacher
  • Confident managing children’s behaviour
  • Emotionally resilient
  • An approachable, friendly character
  • Aware or have experience of supporting children and adults with additional needs

Nice to have:

  • Can offer previous experience with mental health in a supporting capacity
  • A knowledge or understanding of SEN/SEMH
  • A confident approach to working with children
  • An educational background
  • An enthusiasm to learn, sense of humour and develop professionally
  • An enhanced DBS
