Job Description

Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in Brighton in their search for a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team in September. This is a full-time permanent position working with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation, helping students to re-engage positively with school life and learning.

Job Responsibility

  • Support students 1:1 and in small groups who present with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress
  • De-escalate challenging situations using calm, consistent, and professional strategies
  • Support students in reintegrating into mainstream lessons where appropriate
  • Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and SEN teams to support student needs
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies, routines, and emotional regulation techniques
  • Support students in developing resilience, self-confidence, and social skills
  • Assist with monitoring student progress and provide feedback to relevant staff
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times
  • Uphold school policies and safeguarding procedures consistently.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Calm, resilient, and confident under pressure
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students
  • Patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour support
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
