Pink Tile Education is supporting a welcoming secondary school in Brighton in their search for a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team in September. This is a full-time permanent position working with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation, helping students to re-engage positively with school life and learning.
Job Responsibility
Support students 1:1 and in small groups who present with SEMH and behavioural needs
Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress
De-escalate challenging situations using calm, consistent, and professional strategies
Support students in reintegrating into mainstream lessons where appropriate
Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and SEN teams to support student needs
Promote positive behaviour strategies, routines, and emotional regulation techniques
Support students in developing resilience, self-confidence, and social skills
Assist with monitoring student progress and provide feedback to relevant staff
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times
Uphold school policies and safeguarding procedures consistently.
Requirements
Experience working with young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Calm, resilient, and confident under pressure
Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students
Patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour support
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
