Job Description

This is more than a Teaching Assistant role-it's an opportunity to make a genuine difference every day. We are recruiting dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a highly supportive independent specialist school in Burstow. Working with secondary-aged students who have SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD and associated behavioural challenges, you'll help create a safe, structured environment where students can rebuild confidence, develop positive behaviours and re-engage with education.

Job Responsibility

  • Support secondary-aged pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable young people
  • Support learning both inside and outside the classroom
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to help students achieve their goals
  • Act as a consistent and positive role model

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or similar)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence in supporting and managing challenging behaviour positively
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student well-being

  • CACHE level 1 or 2

What we offer

  • Temp-to-Perm opportunity with a permanent contract after 12 weeks
