We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to join education settings across Littlehampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people who require additional support with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all pupils can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Job Responsibility
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties
Support the implementation of individual behaviour support plans and strategies
De-escalate challenging situations using calm, consistent and professional approaches
Promote positive behaviour, self-regulation, and emotional wellbeing
Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams to maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment
Record and report observations in line with school policies
Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence in learning
Requirements
Calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs
Strong communicators and team players
Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Experienced in education, youth work, care, or similar settings (desirable but not essential)
Experience working with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent de-escalation training
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Nice to have
