Job Description

This specialist autism school provides a nurturing and highly personalised learning environment for children and young people with autism and complex communication needs. Through evidence-based teaching approaches, embedded therapeutic support, small class groups, and a strong focus on communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing, pupils are empowered to develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their full potential. Staff work collaboratively within a supportive, family-centred community where every achievement is celebrated and every child is encouraged to succeed.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver individualised teaching sessions to assigned pupils
  • Support children with autism and communication needs using behaviour-based teaching approaches
  • Collect, monitor, and record pupil progress data
  • Assist with sensory learning, life skills, and extracurricular activities
  • Support pupils during lunch, playtimes, and outdoor learning activities
  • Work towards keyworker responsibilities for individual pupils
  • Contribute to the preparation and organisation of teaching resources
  • Support positive behaviour plans and teaching strategies
  • Assist with personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene support
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff
  • Contribute to home-school communication and pupil progress reporting
