Job Description

Provides for the planning of educational activities and workforce initiatives for behavioral healthcare providers within the Northwest AHEC 17-county region.

Job Responsibility

  • Initiate and maintain effective relationships with a variety of representatives from area healthcare agencies to assess educational and workforce needs
  • Plan and coordinate continuing professional development programs and projects
  • Utilize evidence-based research to plan and coordinate programs and projects
  • Plan program activity budgets and monitor program finances to assure fiscal accountability and closeout
  • Maintain timely and appropriate communication with program presenter to assure satisfactory program goal achievement as well as participant, and presenter satisfaction
  • Apply and maintain approved provider status for various accrediting boards
  • Evaluate outcomes of educational programs and monitor quality improvement projects
  • Maintain program records according to Northwest AHEC standards
  • Serve as resource person, catalyst, and consultant to healthcare professional groups within the Northwest AHEC region and North Carolina
  • Maintain communication with other Northwest AHEC staff and North Carolina AHEC personnel to assure meeting goals of strategic plans, both regionally and statewide
  • Plan site visits with behavioral health leaders and others in the region to discuss workforce trends and to brainstorm support strategies
  • Develop online courses to fit the needs of health professionals in the region
  • Review books, journals and other materials for application to Northwest AHEC programs
  • Remain current in professional issues and trends
  • Provide timely input, guidance, feedback, and support to Northwest AHEC administrative team in requesting project support
  • Incorporate blended learning styles into programs
  • Maintain proficiency in technology necessary to enhance job performance
  • Provide reports and summaries as assigned
  • Input data into appropriate data systems to track and manage programs
  • Other specific duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, mental health-related, public health or an appropriate healthcare professional discipline
  • At least two years of experience in professional practice
  • At least one year of experience in education either in academic, continuing education and/or staff development
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) and/or Certified in Public Health (CPH) preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, organizational, writing, and meeting facilitation skills
  • Ability to balance a complex, rapidly changing schedule of programs, projects, timelines, and deadlines
  • Stamina and willingness to conduct travel within the seventeen-county region and/or occasionally statewide/within the United States
  • Strong computer skills
