Job Description:

The Behavioral Health Billing Coordinator provides administrative and billing support for the mental health component of the Behavioral Health program. This role works closely with the Billing Director and billing team to assist with documentation, data tracking, and billing workflows to ensure Department of Mental Health (DMH) requirements are met accurately and on time. This is an entry‑level healthcare administrative role ideal for candidates with medical office experience, strong Excel skills, and an interest in healthcare billing operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide day‑to‑day billing and administrative support for behavioral health services
  • Assist with DMH billing documentation, data tracking, and record maintenance
  • Review, organize, and update billing‑related files and reports
  • Support billing workflows to ensure submissions are accurate and timely
  • Collaborate with the Billing Director and internal teams to resolve routine billing issues
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and DMH requirements
  • Perform additional administrative and billing support duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 1+ year of medical office or healthcare administrative experience preferred
  • Exposure to medical billing, claims, or behavioral health services is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills (data entry, tracking, spreadsheets
  • advanced functions a plus)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential patient and billing information with discretion
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing
  • DMH billing experience preferred but not required (training provided)

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to medical billing, claims, or behavioral health services is a plus
  • DMH billing experience preferred
