Job Responsibility

  • Provide services under the supervision of a BCBA in accordance with BACB Guidelines
  • Develop behavior support plans and client goals under the supervision of a BCBA
  • Work with adult’s consumers in various settings such as individual homes, group homes, day programs
  • Conduct assessments
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Interface with and train direct and supervisory staff from other agencies
  • Monitor program implementation, including graphing data, conducting treatment integrity checks and quality assurance checks
  • Collaborate with other professionals (e.g., psychiatrist, therapist, physician, etc.) to achieve client-specific goals and objectives
  • Participate in job-related training and team meetings
  • Maintain client schedule (schedule sessions and notify about cancellations)
  • Notify Clinical Director or Executive Director of all potential for suspicion of abuse and neglect, client AWOL, injuries to staff or clients that require greater than first aid treatment and potential ethical concerns
  • Performs other duties as assigned reasonably within the scope of a Behavior Specialist

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in Psychology or other related fields
  • Must be enrolled, or plan to enroll, in MA ABA program and actively working toward certification in behavior analysis
  • Must legally be authorized to work in the United States
  • Possess a California driver’s license and have proof of automobile insurance
  • Must provide verification of negative TB test
  • Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance

  • Attend and participate in CBT Academy and other training under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager or Director prior to working with patients. Time and training to be determined by the Clinical Services Manager or Director
  • Provide cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services, except medication administration, to patients, according to clinical standards of care and under the supervision of the Clinical Services Manager or Director
  • Participate in weekly supervision sessions with the Clinical Services Manager or Director and communicate with the Clinical Services Manager or Director on an ongoing basis regarding clinical issues
  • Assure documentation of therapeutic treatment plans, outcome assessments, psychosocial information, and other patient care data is completed within the medical record
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and complete treatment plan development
  • Offer training support to other staff members less familiar with the cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety, mood, eating, and trauma-related disorders
  • Document mental health services according to applicable regulations and payer expectations
  • Communicate with Utilization Review department to provide information necessary to assist in facilitating payment for services
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Provide cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services including groups, to patients, according to clinical standards of care and under the supervision of the Clinical leader to address patients’ specific needs and goals
  • Participate in supervision sessions with the Clinical leader, communicate regularly on specific patient progress, and adjustments needed to care plan based on observations and response to interventions delivered
  • Regularly monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make necessary adjustments. This involves administering outcome measures, reviewing the results, and modifying interventions as needed in consultation with Clinical leader. Behavior specialists will ensure that interventions are producing the desired outcomes
  • Document mental health services according to applicable regulations and payer expectations. Assure acute and timely documentation of therapeutic treatment plans, outcome assessments, psychosocial information, and other patient care data is completed within the medical record. Additional documentation may be completed under close supervision of the Clinical leader within SUD programs
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and assist in development of the treatment plan
  • Communicate treatment interventions and support needs for assigned caseload to applicable interdisciplinary team members and to support systems as needed
  • Offer training support to other direct care team members less familiar with cognitive behavioral treatment interventions (MHT, nurses, clinic assistants, etc.)
  • Providing parent or support person training and education on how to support CBT interventions and behavioral treatment plans effectively. This may involve teaching positive reinforcement techniques, modeling appropriate behaviors, and providing strategies for managing challenging situations
