Join our Bedded Unit Team and be part of something amazing! We have a great opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team on the Bedded Unit at North Devon Hospice. For those who wish to apply, and are successful in being recruited to the role, we will support you to develop specialist palliative care skills. Our Mission is Simple: To provide outstanding care and support to the community of North Devon who are impacted by a life limiting illness.
Job Responsibility:
Support and care for patients and their families at their most difficult and vulnerable time
Work seamlessly as part of a multi-disciplinary team of staff and volunteers to provide care of the highest standard
Provide care for patients needing support for various reasons including symptom control, rehabilitation following treatment or care in the last days of life
Spend time with patients to really understand what is important to them and plan their care accordingly
Requirements:
A good standard of education including Maths and English GCSE at Level 4 or above
Level 3 NVQ in Care or Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship
Experience in a care role within a health or social care setting
An understanding of the role of the healthcare assistant in delivering compassionate care
A good level of IT skills
Emotional resilience, with a calm and composed personality
A compassionate approach to people, demonstrating empathy at a difficult time in their life
The ability to work flexibly to meet needs of the wider service
Nice to have:
Experience in palliative care or oncology is desirable (training will be provided where necessary)
