The Becket Day Camp Director will have the full support of a team of camp counselors, an assistant director, and dedicated waterfront staff. Mentorship is provided by an experienced Director, who has over 30 years’ experience directing camps. The Becket Day Camp relies on a culture that believes success is highest when accomplished together by a team that deeply believes in a camper centered, flexible, enjoyable, and focused team-led by our new Day Camp Director! The Becket Day Camp Director is expected to arrive on June 12, 2026, and must be able to work through August 22, 2026 or later unless otherwise agreed upon.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure a high level of standards in all activities, themes and events
Abide by and ensure others adhere to camp policies and procedures
Ensure safe practices in operations of camp environment and activities
Participate in pre/post camp interactions and communication with parents/caregivers
Serve as a positive role model for staff and campers
Assist with the behavioral needs of campers
Motivate campers and staff to ensure mutual support and group-building during camp
Assist with check-in and check-out
Help supervise campers during lunch time
Communicate regularly with Chief Program Officer on all relevant camp matters
Participate in pre-camp staff training
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
At least 2 years in a leadership role in a camp setting
or an ability to complete a New Camp Director training with the American Camping Association (or equivalent) and a history of engagement with camp programs
Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, or related field preferred
HS Diploma & prior relevant experience will be considered
Must be 21+ years old
Have a current driver’s license with a clean driving record
Be able to work with staff and children in the outdoors, in varying weather conditions, administering and participating in all camp activities, some of which may be physically demanding
Have excellent communication and organizational skills, confidence and willingness to interact in a positive and motivational manner with staff, campers, and families
