The Bayview Fishing Pier Attendant is responsible for delivering a safe, educational, and family-friendly fishing and recreation experience for resort guests and owners. This role oversees daily operations at the Captiva Fishing Pier and Bayview Lawn, including guest programming, equipment rentals, bait sales, and recreational lawn activities. By combining hospitality with environmental education, this position enhances the guest experience, protects the pier as an amenity, and creates meaningful connections with our community. In addition, this role will support the watersports team.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver a safe, educational, and family-friendly fishing and recreation experience
Oversee daily operations at the Captiva Fishing Pier and Bayview Lawn
Provide guest programming, equipment rentals, bait sales, and recreational lawn activities
Facilitate daily fishing lessons for kids, families, and beginners
Lead short educational talks on local marine life and ecosystems
Administer the Junior Angler mini-certification program
Encourage guest participation in lawn games and family-friendly activities
Monitor and control access to the fishing pier
Manage sign-ups, rod rentals, bait sales, and guest inquiries
Maintain inventory of fishing rods, reels, tackle, and bait
Ensure bait storage, coolers, and equipment meet cleanliness and safety standards
Oversee rental program, including fee collection, equipment setup, and returns
Deliver daily safety briefings and enforce pier safety rules
Promote environmentally responsible fishing practices and eco-awareness
Provide first-line response to minor incidents
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pier Cart, Pier, Bayview Lawn, and fishing areas
Organize and oversee family lawn games
Assist with branded experiences
Support special events and seasonal activities
Handle guest check-ins and check-outs on resort's computer system
Open/close marina business and account for all cash, resort charges, and credit card transactions
Ensure safety and operation and disbursement of any fuel products
Assist management in inventory and inventory control
Responsible for discrepancies in dispensing fuel
Responsible for changing of fuel filters as required
Responsible for cleanliness/organization and reporting of maintenance problems of Marina
Assist the docking and placement of all vessels in the marina
Encourage and enhance multiple resort sales
Cover any shifts of the marina operations in the event of personnel illness, no show, vacation, etc.
Participate in training programs
Requirements:
High School or equivalent
Boater Safety Training
Previous guest service, recreation, or hospitality experience preferred
Knowledge of basic fishing techniques, local fish species, and safe handling practices
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., stand/walk for long periods
Must possess thorough knowledge of FCC VHF Radio rules and regulations
