Job Description

Charging your car should feel as natural as charging your phone. That’s the future we’re building: a network of EV chargers where life happens. We don’t just install chargers. We accelerate sustainable mobility. We obsess over partnerships. We grow relentlessly:our network, our partners, ourselves. If you’re here, you’re probably not looking for “just a job.” Neither are we. 😎 We’re driven by impact, and always looking for people who thrive on turning bold ideas into reality. If that sounds like you, you’ll feel at home here. We’re looking for people who see challenges as puzzles, not problems, thrive in fast-growing, high-energy environments, want to shape the future of mobility, not just watch it unfold. At Powerdot, you’ll get freedom, ownership, and responsibility. The space to experiment. The chance to scale your ideas. And a team that’s always pushing the edge of what’s possible.

Job Responsibility

  • Battery system design & engineering
  • Define the technical specifications for BESS at our charging stations: sizing, topology, safety, monitoring, integration with chargers and the grid
  • Challenge supplier proposals and design choices to optimize performance, reliability, and total cost of ownership
  • Build and maintain the reference design that our country teams can replicate across markets
  • Deployment & commissioning
  • Own the technical side of every battery rollout: from site assessment to installation, commissioning, and handover to operations
  • Adapt the rollout playbook to local constraints – grid codes, regulation, partners, installers – across our 5 countries
  • Be the technical interface with DSOs, EPC partners, and local installers
  • Operations & performance
  • Monitor live battery assets, define the KPIs that matter (availability, round-trip efficiency, degradation, safety) and drive continuous improvement
  • Own the O&M playbook for BESS: preventive maintenance, troubleshooting protocols, spare parts strategy
  • Work with Country Ops to make sure battery sites perform at the level we promise to partners and the grid
  • Energy markets & revenue
  • Identify and unlock economic opportunities tied to batteries: arbitrage, ancillary services, capacity markets, flexibility schemes
  • Partner with the Energy team to build the business case for each market and translate it into real revenue
  • Cross-functional & strategic
  • Be the go-to expert for everyone at Powerdot when batteries are on the table
  • Help shape Powerdot’s medium-term battery strategy: which markets, which use cases, which technology bets, which suppliers
  • Represent Powerdot externally with DSOs, regulators, industry working groups, and tier-1 BESS suppliers

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience with battery energy storage systems – you have personally designed, commissioned, or operated BESS in the field, not just modelled them in a slide
  • Strong electrical engineering background (MV/LV, power electronics, protections, grounding, EMC)
  • Real working knowledge of grid interconnection and the dialogue with DSOs / TSOs in at least one European market
  • Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure is a strong plus
  • Exposure to energy markets (arbitrage, ancillary services, flexibility) – you don’t need to be a trader, but you need to speak the language and spot the opportunities
  • Comfort working cross-functionally and internationally, with country teams, suppliers, and partners across multiple geographies
  • Structured, rigorous, and pragmatic: you make calls with the data you have and iterate
  • Self-directed: you set the technical agenda for batteries at Powerdot, you don’t wait for it
  • Fluent English
  • French or Portuguese a strong plus given our team distribution
  • Bonus: experience with battery sizing tools, SCADA / EMS platforms, OCPP, secondlife batteries, or flexibility aggregators

Nice to have

  • French
  • Portuguese
  • experience with battery sizing tools, SCADA / EMS platforms, OCPP, secondlife batteries, or flexibility aggregators

What we offer

  • Private health insurance coverage
  • Gym membership to help you stay active
  • Flexible working hours: you own your time
  • Annual offsite where we celebrate the year’s achievements and spend quality time together
  • Regular team-building events with your local teammates
  • English Training as English is our language used to connect with all markets and teams
  • Free office snacks and unlimited coffee & Meal allowance for every worked day
  • Special discounts for charging your electric vehicle
