The Physiotherapy Department provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services and this role is important in making a significant contribution, developing and maintaining best practice in Physiotherapy services.
Job Responsibility:
Carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the post
Client assessment, development and implementation of individualised treatment plans
Goal setting in partnership with client, family and other team members
Ensure that privacy and dignity of the patient is respected at all times
Communicate and work in co-operation with other team members
Develop effective communication with and provide instruction, guidance and support to service users, family and carers
Maintain good communications with Consultants, General Practitioners and community care team members
Document client records in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies
Maintain an accurate record-keeping system
Provide a service in varied locations in line with departmental policy
Participate in review meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc.
Work within own scope of professional competence
Seek the advice of relevant personnel when appropriate
Operate within the scope of practice of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists
Keep abreast with current changes in clinical practice
Comply with departmental rotational scheme
Participate in weekend, bank holiday and on-call rota
Attend clinics, team meetings and ward rounds when necessary
Deputise for senior when necessary
Participate in performance management
Participate in performance review process with line manager
Contribute to the requirements of professional practice relevant to Physiotherapy
Take personal responsibility for own professional development
Attend and participate in staff development programmes
Assist with the orientation and induction of new staff
Assist in the training of nursing support staff
Identify and inform the Learning and Education Team of any training and professional development requirements
Attend all mandatory training days
Comply with all HR system and policy requirements
Ensure compliance with all relevant Hermitage Medical Clinic guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
Participate in the continuous review and evaluation of policies, guidelines and existing practices
Assist in promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department
Be aware of the core objectives, standards and key performance indicators for the service and contribute to the monitoring of performance
Participate in the requirements of the hospitals accreditation process
Participate in the requirements of the hospital’s risk management programme
Promote the delivery of a high standard of care to all patients
Encourage evidence-based practice and assist in the dissemination and implementation of research findings
Work with members of the Multidisciplinary team in devising Standard Operating Procedures
Assist in ensuring a culture of safety, promoting positive reporting of incidents and near misses
investigate and take remedial action on incidents or near misses
Requirements:
BSc degree in Physiotherapy
Diploma U.C.D. or Trinity College
ISCP/CORU recognised equivalent
Knowledge of the operational procedures in the Physiotherapy Department
Current member of ISCP or CORU
Experience in the areas of orthopaedics, respiratory and neurological physiotherapy
