Job Description:

The Muckross Park Hotel & Spa are currently looking for an experienced Bar Manager to oversee the operations of our upscale Colgans Bar. The ideal candidate should be passionate about hospitality, possess strong leadership skills, and have a proven track record of driving revenue while maintaining high standards of quality and service.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage all aspects of the bar operations, including team members supervision, inventory management, and financial performance
  • Create and implement innovative strategies to increase revenue and enhance the guest experience
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of bartenders and bar colleagues
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and update beverage menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and trends
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication among team members
  • To assist the Duty Manager as neccessary and insuring coverage of Duty Management shifts where required
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the bar area, adhering to strict hygiene standards

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a luxury hotel or upscale establishment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach
  • Proven ability to drive sales and achieve financial targets
  • In-depth knowledge of beverages, including cocktails, wines, and spirits
  • Proficiency in inventory management and cost control
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

  • Ensure operational efficiency by consistently meeting budgeted revenue and labor expenses. Monitor labor costs and the bar’s overall budget
  • Maximize bar profitability and maintain effective controls, developing and implementing cost-saving and profit enhancement measures
  • Develop and implement operating standards, policies, and procedures for the management team. Revise procedures as needed based on experience and sound judgment to accommodate unusual situations
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget and short/long-term financial operating plans for the bar
  • Open and/or close the Bar daily according to established standards and guidelines
  • Follow and enforce cash handling procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters
  • Assist Management with any tasks necessary for successful Bar operations
  • Lead the entire Bar team through overseeing and participating in hiring, training, supervision, management, coaching, counseling, and evaluation
