The Banquet Houseman is an essential part of the catering and events team, responsible for setting the stage for exceptional guest experiences. This role supports the execution of events by handling furniture setup, equipment distribution, linen management, and overall cleanliness of event and storage spaces. Working closely with catering supervisors and servers, the Banquet Houseman ensures each event is prepared, executed, and broken down efficiently and to the highest standards.
Job Responsibility:
Set up and break down event spaces, including placement and removal of furniture, staging, and equipment according to event floor plans
Count, transport, and distribute equipment such as tables, chairs, rolling bars, china, silverware, glassware, and other service items
Manage linen distribution, storage, and return
Clean, polish, and maintain banquet equipment including tables, chairs, bars, china, glassware, and silverware
Ensure catering storage areas are organized, clean, and stocked with necessary supplies
Assist with bussing tables and replenishing items as needed during events
Perform side work and general cleaning tasks in accordance with health and safety standards
Safely transport heavy items (up to 100 lbs.) and operate with care to avoid damage to equipment or venue property
Attend mandatory meetings and follow supervisor direction to ensure successful event execution
Requirements:
Must be able to work long hours and flexible shifts, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to lift, push, pull, and transport up to 100 lbs. regularly
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret event floor plans
Knowledge of proper table settings and service ware preferred
Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required
Strong communication and listening skills
ability to take direction effectively
Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to personal hygiene standards
Willingness to exceed guest expectations and contribute to a high-performance team environment
Prior banquet or event setup experience preferred but not required
