Job Description

The Westin Tempe is looking for a FT - Banquet Chef to join our amazing Culinary Team! A Banquet Chef takes part in servicing our guests around our beautiful Hotel and you'll be part of a great team of helpful people who are passionate about delivering exceptional service. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, timely, and professional manner resulting in an extremely high level of guest satisfaction.

Job Responsibility

  • Assists in the coordination, planning and supervision of the production, plating and presentation of the food at all Banquet events in a cost effective, safe manner to meet/exceed customer expectations and attract future business
  • Create and determine costs for menus
  • Participate in all promotional events

Requirements

  • 4 – 5 years Kitchen Management as a Chef or Executive Chef in a Hotel and/or Resort setting preferred
  • Hospitality experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain required government licenses or certifications
  • Requires thorough knowledge of the catering and food profession
  • Requires knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Requires supervision/management skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Can communicate well with guests
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers
  • Basic mathematical skills and considerable skill in the use of a calculator
  • Ability to stand, walk and continuously perform in the Banquet Kitchen
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons
