The Banquet Captain plays a key leadership role in ensuring the flawless execution of all banquet and event functions at Dellshire Resort. This position supervises banquet staff during setup, service, and breakdown, ensuring that every event exceeds guest expectations and aligns with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and resort standards. The Banquet Captain acts as a liaison between the Banquet Manager, Culinary, and Event Services teams, providing hands-on leadership, clear communication, and exceptional guest service.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise, lead, and assist banquet servers and setup staff during events
Review all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) prior to each function
Conduct pre-shift meetings
Ensure event rooms are properly set up
Oversee service of food and beverages
Communicate effectively with the Culinary team
Monitor staff performance, appearance, and adherence to standards
Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
Assist with event setup, breakdown, and post-event clean-up
Maintain accurate event notes, inventory usage, and staff time records
Ensure proper care, storage, and handling of banquet equipment and supplies
Support training and onboarding of new banquet staff
Follow all resort safety, sanitation, and security procedures
Requirements:
Minimum two (2) years of banquet or catering service experience
One (1) year in a leadership or captain role preferred
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Proven ability to motivate and guide team members
Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage service techniques
Ability to interpret BEOs, floor plans, and event timelines
Food Handler and Alcohol Service Certifications required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
ServSafe Certification preferred
Must be available for flexible scheduling including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
