Job Responsibility:
Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to attorneys specializing in bankruptcy law
draft, format, proofread, and finalize bankruptcy-related legal documents, including petitions, schedules, motions, and filings
manage e-filing systems for court submissions, ensuring compliance with court deadlines and procedures
conduct legal research and maintain case files while keeping documentation organized and easily accessible
communicate professionally and promptly with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in bankruptcy matters
maintain attorneys' calendars, schedule hearings, and manage appointments and deadlines to ensure the smooth progression of cases
proactively monitor client billing and invoice logs, confirming accurate entry of billable hours
handle confidential information with discretion and adhere to ethical guidelines
assist in coordinating meetings and preparing materials for hearings or client consultations
support attorneys in preparing for trials or mediations as needed
Requirements:
5+ years of experience as a legal secretary
in-depth understanding of bankruptcy law
exceptional organizational and communication skills
ability to manage complex documentation under tight deadlines
proficiency in bankruptcy filing systems (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF) and e-filing processes
strong knowledge of bankruptcy procedures, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases
exceptional verbal and written communication skills
high attention to detail
ability to prioritize workload effectively in a deadline-driven environment
strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software tools
professional demeanor
ability to maintain discretion with sensitive information
