Job Description

Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced healthcare technician or Band 3 HCA to join our amazing and dedicated team. This is a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking business and benefit from our fantastic comprehensive benefits package, along with fully funded training and development programs. This is a zero hour contract offering flexible shifts and pays up to £15ph dependent on experience. This role will require you to travel across our 4 sites - Birmingham, Uttoexter, Leicester and Nottingham.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care throughout their visit to Optegra
  • Perform diagnostic testing on patients, including Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, and Topography
  • Support patients on surgery days, providing pre- and post-operative care and ensuring effective communication
  • Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when addressing patients’ and their relatives’ concerns, ensuring a person centred approach
  • Provide basic health promotion advice related to ophthalmic surgery
  • Assist in the operating theatre, supporting the entire patient pathway
  • To support the control of cross-infection by adhering to the Hospital's Uniform Policy, maintaining a clean working environment, and following decontamination and sterilization procedures in accordance with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policy. Follow protocols for documenting and reporting accidents or incidents

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment or ophthalmic sector
  • Basic Life Support competent
  • Highly organised, with clear forward planning and ability to flex according to patients needs
  • Attention to details and ability to work under pressure
