Job Description

Optegra has an exciting job opportunity for a Bank Healthcare Technician to join our friendly and supportive team in our prestige private Central London Hospital. This is a zero hour contract offering flexible shifts and pay up to £16ph dependent on experience. You'll also be required to cover shifts in our West London and North London hospitals.

Support patients on surgery days, providing pre- and post-operative care and ensuring effective communication
Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when addressing patients’ and their relatives’ concerns, ensuring a person centred approach
Provide basic health promotion advice related to ophthalmic surgery
Assist in the operating theatre, supporting the entire patient pathway
To support the control of cross-infection by adhering to the Hospital's Uniform Policy, maintaining a clean working environment, and following decontamination and sterilization procedures in accordance with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policy. Follow protocols for documenting and reporting accidents or incidents

Registration as MLT (ASCP), RCT, MLT (AMT), CLT (NCA)

Calibrates, standardizes equipment and performs minor equipment maintenance
Recognizes instrument malfunction and out of control test results and seeks assistance from Clinical Lab Supervisor or Technologists
Performs quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents and procedures
Performs proficiency testing
Assists in specimen collection as necessary and assists in specimen processing and accessioning as appropriate
Assists in the maintenance of clerical records
Is familiar with LIS (and HIS if appropriate)
Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned
