Job Responsibility

Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care throughout their visit to Optegra
Perform diagnostic testing on patients, including Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, and Topography
Support patients on surgery days, providing pre- and post-operative care and ensuring effective communication
Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when addressing patients’ and their relatives’ concerns, ensuring a person centred approach
Provide basic health promotion advice related to ophthalmic surgery
Assist in the operating theatre, supporting the entire patient pathway
To support the control of cross-infection by adhering to the Hospital's Uniform Policy, maintaining a clean working environment, and following decontamination and sterilization procedures in accordance with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policy. Follow protocols for documenting and reporting accidents or incidents

Recognizes instrument malfunction and out of control test results and seeks assistance from Clinical Lab Supervisor or Technologists
Performs quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents and procedures
Performs proficiency testing
Assists in specimen collection as necessary and assists in specimen processing and accessioning as appropriate
Assists in the maintenance of clerical records
Is familiar with LIS (and HIS if appropriate)
Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned

Coordinate and pack blood samples for testing and submit required test orders for donor testing
Handle recovered plasma, ensuring it’s properly packed for further manufacturing
Troubleshoot common equipment issues and escalate problems to the appropriate team members for resolution
Always ensure proper usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in the lab
Adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as needed and assist in the smooth operation of the lab
