Rainbows are currently looking for qualified Nurse’s to join our dedicated and supportive care team here at the Hospice in Loughborough. Our Nursing team provide a high standard of care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting conditions and terminal illnesses as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, we’re here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are. You will join a unique and vibrant team providing symptom management, palliative and end of life care and planned short breaks at the hospice. We offer 1:1 nursing to all babies, children and young people at the hospice. As part of the care team, you will have the opportunity to work within the multidisciplinary team made up of a variety of skilled members including Music therapists, complementary therapists and our non- medical workforce team of ACP’s.
Job Responsibility:
Support the Band 6 Team Leader in planning and implementing care for children and young people within the hospice
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of children and young people in partnership with them and their parents/guardians
Provide excellent short break, palliative and end of life care at Rainbows in a family centred environment in conjunction with all members of the multi-disciplinary team
Ensure all procedures are carried out in accordance with local and national policies in force within the Hospice
Participate in standard setting, quality assurance and audit in order to maintain and promote high standards of care
Contribute positively to the establishment of good communication and relations between staff and take personal responsibility for adherence to the same
Ensure accurate and contemporaneous record keeping and observe confidentiality of such records at all times
Take personal and professional responsibility for administration, storage and return of all medications in accordance with Rainbows’ Policy and the NMC Code of Drug Administration
Involve children, young people and their families whenever possible in care planning and delivery
Requirements:
Qualified RSCN (Child Branch)/RNCB/ RNLD
Substantial post registration experience or relevant placement/experience during training
Experience with children and/or young people (0-25 years) with complex needs
Demonstrates high standard of clinical care
Effective communication skills
Ability to teach and support other team members
Good teamwork and leadership skills
Understanding of research-based practice
