Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Band 5 Accountant to join local council for an 8-month contract until November 2026, with possibility to extend.

Job Responsibility:

  • Financial Service Delivery: Execute high-quality financial services, including budgeting, forecasting, and asset accounting, to support business planning and reporting
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all activities strictly adhere to guidelines, legislative requirements, and professional accounting and auditing standards
  • Research & Strategic Analysis: Conduct research on commercial and accounting matters to provide data-driven recommendations and solutions for business partners
  • Operational Excellence: Support team performance monitoring and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and customer self-service initiatives
  • Change Management Support: Assist in implementing corporate improvement opportunities and change initiatives that align with evolving business needs
  • Knowledge Sharing & Development: Proactively share technical expertise across the organization while committing to continuous professional self-development

Requirements:

  • CA/CPA Qualification along with relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Previous Local, State or Federal Government experience (desirable)
  • Experience of delivering effective financial, asset and/or managerial accounting services, including analysis, budgeting and reporting
  • Ability to work and comply with internal controls and risk management plans
