We are currently seeking a Band 4 Accountant to join local council for an 8-month contract until November 2026, with possibility to extend.

Job Responsibility:

  • Compliance & Data Standards: Ensure all financial data adheres to commercial, legislative, and accounting regulations
  • Systems Management: Support the delivery of efficient, high-performing finance and accounting systems and processes
  • Reporting & Insights: Deliver accurate financial results and KPIs through targeted research and project support
  • Customer Resolution: Resolve stakeholder issues within delegated authority or manage effective escalations
  • Business Partnering: Provide direct operational support to Accountants and business partners to facilitate service delivery
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to streamline accounting and reporting performance

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of general financial principles and practices
  • Ability to apply financial rules associated with commercial, legislative and regulatory requirements of the customers & business
  • Efficient and effective organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities
  • Ability to research, analyse and resolve issues including preparing detailed reports
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance
  • Technical Proficiency with business and finance software packages
