Real Assets Investment Officer: Team Description: The US Pension Investment (“USPI”) team is the investment management team that manages and invests the assets of the US Defined Benefit (“DB”) and Defined Contribution (“DC”) Plans (together, the “US Plans”) and advises on the Asset Allocation and Investment strategy for all the International Pension Plans. The DB Plan portfolio consists of approximately $10 billion of assets. All existing Real Assets investments are managed through a network of external investment managers. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in the monitoring and performance reporting of these managers, working in close collaboration with the current Private Equity & Real Assets Investment Officer to ensure optimal performance and adherence to investment mandates. This position will report directly to the USPI Chief Investment Officer (CIO).
Job Responsibility:
Co-manage the US DB investments in the Private Equity sub-asset classes
Fund Manager Monitoring & Evaluation: Deep understanding of investment strategies and underlying assets in each fund
Developing and maintaining Excel-based analyses for cash flow tracking/projection and investment performance
Performance analysis using metrics like IRR, return on capital, and benchmarking
Active participation in fund manager meetings to gather performance updates
Manage capital call process
Reporting and Presentation: Preparation of routine reports on asset-class performance
Creation of ad-hoc reports, special project analyses, and presentations for internal teams and the Plan Committee
Support for monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reporting processes, collaborating with Investment and Operations teams
Market Intelligence & Networking: Engaging with institutional peers and managers to stay current on investment trends
Identifying new and compelling investment opportunities
Requirements:
Strong academic background
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or other related field
3-5 years relevant experience, preferably in finance and/or asset management
Private markets or private market operations experience (preferably in a similar role at either a pension fund, endowment, or foundation) a plus
Results-driven, with an ability to deliver high-quality work
Excellent financial modeling skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point
Knowledge of MSCI (formerly Burgiss) Private I system a plus
Attention to detail, desire for accuracy, and intellectual curiosity with a desire to understand the various underlying sub-asset classes
Exercises effective project management, relationship building and communication skills
Team player with an ability to work well with others in a small team environment
Master's degree or CFA preferred
Nice to have:
