Job Description:

Are you ready to lead the data protection strategy for a global FinTech innovator? A leading international financial technology company, which operates a large-scale B2B2X platform, is seeking a Backup Engineer (Team Leader) to join its Systems Engineering team. This is a critical role focused on ensuring the resilience, integrity, and recoverability of all company data and systems. The primary objective for the successful candidate will be to lead the Backup and Disaster Recovery (B&DR) function, driving technical excellence and maintaining strict operational discipline.

Job Responsibility:

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead the Backup and Disaster Recovery team, providing technical and operational direction while fostering a culture of reliability and continuous improvement
  • Strategy & Policy: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive backup, retention, and disaster recovery policies across all enterprise environments
  • Technical Operations: Manage the end-to-end configuration, operations (O&M), and incident handling for all backup and DR systems
  • System Optimization: Oversee and optimize the backup and restore processes for key environments utilizing Veeam, Barman, and NiFi
  • Disaster Recovery: Coordinate DR operations and testing using VMware vRealize Automation (VRA) and related VMware tools (vCenter, SRM, or similar)
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct and thoroughly document regular backup and DR tests to ensure data integrity and recovery readiness, meeting RPO/RTO targets
  • Analysis & Reporting: Develop metrics, dashboards, and reports to monitor backup success rates, storage utilization, and SLA compliance
  • Collaboration & Compliance: Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Application, and Security teams to align B&DR strategies with business needs and ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure
  • At least 2 years of proven experience in a leadership role focused on backup or disaster recovery, including team management
  • Strong technical expertise in Veeam, Barman, and NiFi backup technologies
  • Hands-on experience with VMware-based DR solutions (VRA, vCenter, SRM, or similar)
  • In-depth understanding of backup strategies, retention policies, RPO/RTO, and data lifecycle management
  • Proven experience in incident handling, O&M processes, and cross-team coordination
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR)
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
