Job Description:

The company is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Kubernetes expertise to join the team on a contract basis. You’ll play a key role in designing, scaling, and maintaining backend systems that power consumer-facing gaming applications, including environments with constrained hardware. This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable owning backend architecture, working close to infrastructure, and collaborating with product and engineering leadership.

Job Responsibility:

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js
Architect, deploy, and manage services running on Kubernetes
Work with Apache Cassandra (data modeling, performance, reliability)
Optimize backend systems for constrained environments (e.g. Smart TVs or similar devices)
Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to deliver features end-to-end
Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability in production
Clearly communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs

Requirements:

Senior-level Backend Engineering experience
Strong expertise with Node.js
Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
Experience working with Cassandra or similar distributed databases
Proven experience building and shipping real production systems
Ability to clearly explain past projects, architectural decisions, and outcomes

Nice to have:

Experience building Smart TV apps or working with constrained devices
Exposure to gaming, media, or real-time consumer applications
Experience using AI tools (e.g. for development, debugging, productivity) and the ability to explain how you leverage them in your workflow
