As a Backend Developer/Build Engineer, you will design and continuously improve the technical backbone of our modern documentation platform. You enable authors and development teams to create high-quality technical documentation efficiently and reliably following the "Docs-as-Code" principle. With your expertise in CI/CD and automation, you will ensure smooth operations and a robust, future-proof system landscape.
Job Responsibility:
Design, implement, and maintain build pipelines for our documentation platform based on Sphinx (Static Site Generator)
Optimize and further develop our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Bitbucket), including custom extensions for our frontend
Support cloud-based deployments and continuously improve automation and system reliability
Create scripts, tools, and automations (e.g., format conversion, data validation, report generation) to streamline recurring processes
Act as a technical contact for our Docs-as-Code infrastructure and support internal users in troubleshooting and optimization
Work closely with software development teams to continuously enhance documentation workflows based on real product and customer requirements
Depending on your interest, contribute to technical documentation within our welding technology business unit
Requirements:
Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps)
Practical experience with build systems and automation
Exposure to cloud environments, ideally Microsoft Azure
Strong programming skills in Python and/or JavaScript
Experience with REST APIs
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, DevOps principles, infrastructure automation, and ideally Docs-as-Code environments
Understanding of agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban) and test-driven development is a plus
Very good English skills (written and spoken). German is an advantage

Communicative and open-minded, motivated to drive technical improvements
