Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Backend Architect (f/m) to join our Digital Enterprise Architecture department based in Toulouse, France. You will be part of a team developing the next-generation "Data Refinery." As part of the Data & Analytics Platforms Team, you will be involved in pioneering a hybrid compute architecture aiming at optimizing massive data volumes for critical aircraft production and operational insights.
Job Responsibility:
Define the Blueprint: Architect the strategic integration between traditional distributed processing (Apache Spark) and high-efficiency single-node processing (Polars) within the Palantir Foundry ecosystem
Technical Authority: Establish and enforce data governance policies (Purpose-Based Access Control, Data Classification) to ensure enterprise-grade security and compliance
Performance Engineering: Lead the tuning of polyglot processing jobs across CPU and GPU hardware to ensure maximum throughput and cost-effectiveness
High-Performance Computing (HPC): Define strategies for deploying custom, low-latency logic and "HPC Bricks" for complex data enrichment modules
Strategic Consensus: Act as the primary interface between technical teams and executive stakeholders, driving architectural alignment across global sites in Europe and Asia
Requirements:
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
Big Data Mastery: Deep production experience with Apache Spark optimization and the Palantir Foundry stack (Phonograph, Code Repositories, Ontology)
Polyglot Programming: Advanced proficiency in Java and Python
expertise in systems languages like C/C++ or Rust is a significant advantage
Modern Data Stack: Practical experience architecting solutions that combine distributed frameworks with memory-efficient libraries like Polars
Enterprise Mindset: Proven ability to work within Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks and explain complex trade-offs to non-technical business partners
Nice to have:
