Job Description

The Shift Leader will be a certifying engineer who leads and manages the day to day operational activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of their responsible shift. They will be required to take on administrative and managerial duties including workload management and booking control, production planning and will be responsible for supervising and managing staff on shift.

  • Manage all shift activities and responsibilities
  • Assess all work requests and requirements
  • Manage and maintain a safe and efficient line maintenance operation
  • Ensure shift levels and skills are sufficient
  • Ensure a good relationship is maintained between all line stations and interfacing departments
  • Aid Customer Airline achieving its on-time performance targets
  • Ensure all responsible staff are aware of their responsibilities
  • Ensure the line station is maintained in a clean, safe and efficient manner
  • Regulatory and Budgetary Requirements
  • Aid in ensuring all relevant Station, EASA and CAA regulations are met
  • Ensure relevant procedures are followed, maintained and reviewed
  • Ensure all cost savings or potential overspends are brought to the attention of the Station Manager
  • Ensure all overtime requirements are brought to the attention of the Station Manager
  • Ensure all H & S issues are assessed and brought to the attention of the Station Manager
  • Line Maintenance
  • Ensure all relevant staff on their shift are aware of all H & S obligations
  • Review roster 14 days in advance
  • Arrange backfill and overtime as required
  • Ensure production planning is complete
  • Review daily the Customer work requests
  • Ensure a good relationship is established and maintained between all line stations and interfacing departments
  • Aid the Customer Airlines on-time performance record
  • Ensure all responsible staff are regularly briefed and aware of their responsibilities and updates
  • Ensure the line station is maintained in a clean, safe and efficient manner

Requirements

  • A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or similar
  • Qualified Part 66 Licence for types relevant to station
  • Minimum of 3 certifying years experience
  • Essential: A320 family

  • Work closely with Flight Operations and Base Maintenance to maintain fleet readiness and minimise disruption
  • Coordinate worldwide Line Maintenance activities, acting as the central point of control for engineering operations
  • Take ownership of AOG situations, driving recovery plans and directing resolution across multiple stakeholders
  • Act as the key interface between Line Maintenance, Part M, and support departments on airworthiness matters
  • Liaise directly with OEMs including Boeing and component manufacturers on complex technical issues
  • Analyse component trends and drive effective troubleshooting strategies
  • Optimise maintenance planning through effective use of the MEL
