We are looking for an Azure DevOps Engineer II to support engineering teams by streamlining software delivery, strengthening code quality, and improving the reliability of cloud-based development workflows. This Long-term Contract position is fully remote and requires availability during East Coast business hours, with the role based in Providence, Rhode Island. The ideal candidate brings strong software development experience in .NET, C#, or Java, along with deep hands-on knowledge of Azure services, API development, automation, and modern DevOps practices.
Job Responsibility
Partner with technical leads and software engineers to evaluate current development and release workflows and recommend practical improvements that increase efficiency and reliability
Analyze recurring delays or friction points across coding, testing, deployment, and support processes, then implement solutions that remove obstacles for development teams
Design and maintain automation for build, deployment, and infrastructure management using infrastructure-as-code and other DevOps tooling
Support cloud environments by performing routine operational checks, monitoring system health, tracking capacity concerns, and sharing status updates with stakeholders
Deploy application components and services to the appropriate environments while following established standards for stability, security, and consistency
Build and refine engineering standards, reusable processes, and scripts that help teams deliver code more quickly and with fewer errors
Work closely with developers and other technical partners to gather feedback on pain points and translate those insights into actionable platform improvements
Contribute to the administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of cloud platforms, containerized workloads, and supporting services across modern environments
Collaborate with the broader DevOps function to deliver cohesive solutions for CI/CD, observability, and platform operations across the organization
Requirements
Strong development background with .NET, C#, or Java, including the ability to create and support API-based solutions
Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, especially services such as Azure Functions, webhooks, queues, and Service Bus
Proven knowledge of DevOps and automation practices, including infrastructure-as-code and deployment tooling such as Terraform
Experience working with containers and orchestration or platform technologies such as Docker, OpenShift, or Kubernetes
Familiarity with continuous integration and code quality tools, including technologies such as Jenkins, Maven, Git, or Sonar
Solid understanding of Agile delivery methods and the ability to work effectively in collaborative engineering environments
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences
