The Azure Data Architect role involves leading the design and implementation of scalable data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. Job Responsibility:
Design and Implementation: Develop and manage scalable cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure Services, ensuring they meet performance and security standards
Define and own the end-to-end architecture of data platforms built on Azure Cloud, including ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption layers
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders, to align cloud solutions with business goals
Assessment and Optimization: Evaluate existing systems, identify areas for improvement, and lead the migration of on-premises applications to the cloud
Provide technical guidance, assistance and coaching on Azure best practices to engineering teams
Manage and monitor Azure resources and services
Develop and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure, processes, and procedures
Keep abreast of the latest Azure features and industry trends to continuously improve cloud architecture
Provision and configure virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking components
Proven expertise in implementing data governance and metadata management across workspaces and cloud environments
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to support ML model lifecycle management using MLflow
Demonstrated experience or familiarity with AI systems in integration into data
Provide technical leadership in performance tuning, cost optimization, and cluster configuration
Conduct architectural reviews, code audits, and mentoring sessions to ensure adherence to standards and scalability
Stay current with Azure innovations and advocate for adoption of new features and capabilities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field required
10+ years of experience in data architecture and engineering
5+ years in Azure Platform
Strong understanding of Lakehouse architecture, data mesh, and modern data stack principles
Proven ability to design and implement secure, governed, and highly available data platforms
Proven experience with Azure App Service and Azure Functions
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and their integration with Azure
Experience with data modeling, dimensional modeling, and temporal data structures
An understanding of E-R data models (conceptual, logical, and physical)
Understanding of advanced data warehouse concepts is required
Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business requirements and translating them into technical designs and solutions
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
