As an Azure Apps & AI Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) within the Customer Success Unit (CSU), you will serve as the senior technical advisor and delivery lead for Federal Government and Defence customers, focused on modern application platforms and secure AI adoption. You are responsible for designing, enabling, and scaling modern cloud applications and AI solutions on Azure to unlock measurable business value in highly regulated environments (ISM, PSPF, protected/secure workloads). This is a customer-facing, outcome-driven role where you: Lead application modernization and AI delivery execution; Enable secure, compliant AI adoption (including Copilot and custom AI solutions); Drive Azure consumption, innovation, and long-term platform strategy; Partner across Microsoft to deliver end-to-end transformation outcomes. In the FDI context, you play a critical role in: Enabling AI transformation in secure government environments; Modernizing legacy applications into cloud-native, scalable services; Helping customers move from AI pilots to production in regulated settings; Building trusted advisory relationships with senior government stakeholders
Job Responsibility:
Lead delivery and stabilization of modern application and AI solutions on Azure
Architect and guide AI solutions, including: Azure OpenAI / Copilot patterns, Enterprise AI platforms, Integration architectures
Enable customers to move from pilot to production-ready solutions
Build reusable patterns for secure AI and application deployment across agencies
Drive adoption of Azure Apps and AI services through platform enablement
Enable faster development, deployment, and scaling of applications
Accelerate AI usage by embedding it into real business processes
Reduce friction between ideation, build, and production rollout
Act as a trusted advisor on: Modern application architecture, Secure AI adoption and governance
Deliver proactive engagements, including: Application and architecture reviews, AI discovery workshops, Innovation and solution design sessions
Guide customers on best practices for: DevOps, APIs, AI integration
Drive execution of Customer Success Plans (CSPs) aligned to Apps & AI outcomes
Maintain visibility of: Delivery progress, Risks and issues, Value realization
Engage senior stakeholders, including engineering leads, CIOs, and program leaders, to align: Application strategy, AI roadmap, Platform investments
Drive One Microsoft alignment across CSU, STU, Engineering, and partners
Ensure applications and AI solutions are: Secure by design, Compliant with Government frameworks (ISM, PSPF), Aligned with Responsible AI principles
Guide customers on: AI governance and risk management, Secure data usage and model deployment
Ensure solutions are production-ready with: Monitoring, Reliability, Performance optimization
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 4+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting OR equivalent experience
This position requires verification of Australian Citizenship due to citizenship based legal restrictions
Strong experience across: Modern application development, APIs, microservices, containers (AKS), and serverless solutions (Functions), Azure App Services and integration patterns, DevOps practices, including CI/CD, GitHub, and automation
Experience with AI solutions, including: Azure OpenAI and generative AI, AI integration into applications, Intelligent business workflows
Experience working in regulated environments (Government / Defence preferred)
Ability to design: Secure application architectures, AI solutions compliant with Government controls
Proven ability to: Deliver complex application and AI projects, Move solutions from proof-of-concept to production, Unblock teams and accelerate delivery
Strong operational discipline across: Delivery planning, Risk management, Stakeholder communication
Ability to engage: Developers, architects, and engineering teams, Executive stakeholders, including CIOs and transformation leads
Strong storytelling capability to: Translate AI and application solutions into business outcomes
Experience working in cross-functional, matrixed teams
