We are seeking an experienced AWS Infrastructure Administrator to join our Data Governance team and support the infrastructure and security of an enterprise Data Catalog platform. This role is ideal for a hands-on AWS professional with strong networking, IAM, and security experience, and an interest in data governance and metadata platforms. Prior experience with Alation or similar data catalog tools is a plus, but not required—training will be provided. This individual will play a critical role in designing, administering, securing, and optimizing AWS infrastructure used to support metadata management, data discovery, and governance initiatives across the organization.
Job Responsibility:
Administer and maintain AWS infrastructure supporting a Data Catalog platform, including EC2/EKS, RDS (PostgreSQL), S3/EFS, Lambda, and SageMaker
Configure and manage VPC networking, including private subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, load balancers (ALB/NLB), and internet gateways where required
Implement and enforce IAM roles and policies using least-privilege principles
Manage platform security including security groups, KMS, TLS certificates (ACM or custom), and SSO integrations (SAML/OIDC)
Monitor platform health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance and reliability
Administer, configure, and support an enterprise Data Catalog platform (Alation experience a plus
training provided)
Integrate the catalog with databases, data lakes, BI tools, and other enterprise data sources
Support metadata ingestion, classification, and lineage in partnership with data governance and stewardship teams
Maintain documentation, best practices, and provide user onboarding and knowledge transfer
Automate operational tasks using APIs and scripting
Evaluate new AWS services and data catalog features to recommend platform improvements
Stay current with cloud, data governance, and metadata management best practices
Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience as an AWS Administrator or Infrastructure Engineer
Proven expertise in AWS networking and IAM
Experience with: EC2, VPC, S3, Lambda, IAM roles, policies, and security best practices, AWS Console and operational tooling
Working knowledge of RDS/PostgreSQL
Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, integration, and security issues
Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
Ability to work in a regulated or enterprise environment
Eligible and willing to convert to full-time employment upon successful contract completion
Nice to have:
Experience with Alation, Atlan, or similar data catalog platforms
Exposure to data governance, metadata management, or data lineage
Experience with: SageMaker, AWS Glue, Redshift, or EMR
Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
Scripting or automation experience (Python, Shell, etc.)
