The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Research Writer plays a crucial role in the creation of high‑quality, forward‑looking, credit‑focused research. Research Writers are responsible for elevating the clarity, structure, narrative strength and market relevance of analytical research through advanced editing, writing and coaching.
Job Responsibility:
Play a central role in the production of timely, forward‑looking, credit‑focused research through advanced editing, writing and restructuring of complex analytical content
Act as a senior editorial authority, ensuring research is clear, coherent, analytically sound and aligned with editorial standards and market expectations
Assess research topics for market significance, urgency, and clarity of message, exercising sound editorial and news judgment
Partner with analysts throughout the full research lifecycle—from idea generation through drafting, editing and publication
Ensure research effectively communicates credit risk, issuer fundamentals and sector‑level business and financial conditions
Collaborate with analysts to determine the most effective medium for their research, including written reports, infographics, podcasts, video, or other formats
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to improve overall research quality and reader engagement
Identify opportunities to improve the research production process, including workflow efficiency, editorial standards and cross‑team collaboration
Requirements:
Minimum five years’ financial journalism experience at a reputable news agency or with editing experience at other financial institutions
Exceptional writing and editing skills, including headline writing and restructuring complex financial and credit analysis into clear, compelling narratives
Strong editorial judgment with the ability to assess the relevance and market impact of research
Solid understanding of credit risk, macroeconomics and broader financial markets
Self‑starter able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines with minimal supervision
Highly organized and efficient with strong attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
At least equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in relevant areas
Nice to have:
Experience with or strong interest in non‑traditional research formats including podcasts, infographics and other digital media is an advantage
Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
