As a Manager of the Avionics Build you will have a unique opportunity to build and lead a cross-functional team of individuals that develop wire harnessing and integrated electro-mechanical assemblies. You will be responsible for standing up and optimizing end-to-end avionics harnessing and electro-mechanical assembly capabilities that ensure high-speed, high-reliability, manufacturing with a commitment to cost reduction, novel process definition, and rapid iteration.
Job Responsibility:
Build a team that delivers the flight and development harnessing, and electrical subassembly/component built and tested ready for aircraft integration
Ownership of avionics development test assets including environmental testing
Harness component innovation, design, and qualification
Manage a team of supervisors, technicians, and engineers that represent avionics harness and electro-mechanical assembly manufacturing in a development environment
Develop and/or source new tools and capital equipment to drive harness manufacturing new heights of performance
Evangelize and drive design for manufacturing best practices and design for test with design engineers and test engineers
Lead the overall manufacturing development strategy for the areas under ownership for key metrics: quality, delivery, and cost. Actively measure team’s performance against these metrics
Requirements:
Experience with avionics or aerospace manufacturing standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739)
3+ years of experience in a production leadership role in aerospace, electronics, or a high-reliability manufacturing environment
Direct experience managing or supporting teams building wire harnesses or electronic assemblies
Strong technical background in electronics or harness design, build, or test
Nice to have:
Experience standing up a manufacturing shop/capability from scratch (highly desired)
Competence with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a focus on execution
Proven ability to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced environment
Strong computer and analytical skills including proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, shop floor management software (ERP/MRP/MES) or related programs and dashboards
