Astrion is currently seeking a NAVAIR T408 Turbine Engine Inspector to support our customer at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, NC. This position supports inspection, condition documentation, and digital data entry for T408 turbine engine systems in accordance with applicable Technical Manuals (TMs) and engineering guidance.
Job Responsibility:
Perform pre-shop teardown analysis and inspections of T408 turbine engine systems and components IAW applicable TMs and engineering guidance
Assess and document equipment condition, wear, or damage, including measurements and digital photographs
Perform limited handling or repositioning of components as necessary to support inspection and photographic documentation
Review and reference available historical maintenance records and documentation to support inspection context
Enter inspection findings, photographs, and supporting information into an electronic database or application repository
Identify and document anomalous or noteworthy conditions for further review by engineering or program personnel
Coordinate and integrate with engineering working groups, as directed, to support inspection documentation efforts
Support special inspection projects or studies, as tasked, to aid engineering analysis
Interface with engineering and program management personnel in support of inspection and documentation activities
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of aviation-related technical, inspection, or maintenance support experience
Proficient knowledge of turbine engine systems, inspections and aviation maintenance practices, policies and regulations
Background in quality assurance and technical inspection, with experience in military aviation records and documentation, including aviation maintenance data analysis
Demonstrated ability to inspect, assess, and accurately describe component conditions in accordance with applicable Technical Manuals (TMs) and engineering guidance
Experience supporting DoD or military aviation programs, preferably within a NAVAIR environment
Experience using Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and electronic technical data
Experience in data collection, entering, reviewing, and annotating information in web-based or electronic data systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel and Word)
Strong written and verbal communication skills include effective interaction with customers and technical teams
Must possess an active and transferable DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain clearance eligibility
Nice to have:
Engineering-minded inspector with an analytical, research-oriented approach to inspection, documentation, and data interpretation
Experience with Turbine engine systems such as T64, T700, or ideally T408 Turboshaft Engine maintenance or inspection
Technical inspector with Engineering background
Ability to collect, edit and transcribe digital photographic data
Working knowledge of NAVAIR maintenance documentation, inspection records, and data standards
Active FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License
Aviation Maintenance Professional Certification (or equivalent)
Prior experience supporting NAVAIR or USMC aviation activities
Digital photography and inspection documentation experience
