The Avaya Telecom Technician role involves installing, repairing, and modifying telecommunications equipment, with a strong focus on Avaya systems. Candidates should have at least 5 years of telecom experience, including 3 years with Avaya. This full-time, onsite position in Sandy Springs, GA, requires excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory and developing effective relationships with clients.
Job Responsibility:
Installs, moves, repairs, and modifies telecommunications and related equipment according to job order requests of the user
Know the specifications, standards, and procedures to repair voice and data equipment
Have the skillset to make logical decisions on cable, wire and equipment needed to accomplish the service tasks of installing circuits, cross-connects, equipment, etc…
Interconnecting circuits to ECS or at the vendor demarcation location, testing and verifying proper operation of the installed circuits and/or equipment
Assumes shared responsibility for the cable plant by determining and assigning the appropriate inside cable pairs
Working in concert with other telecommunications technicians for required changes in cable pair assignments
Coordinates with cable maintenance and installation vendors on locating cable, cable tray, conduits, access panels
Adding and/or maintaining cable installations and integrity of wire management
Reviewing and verifying all completed vendor work for accuracy of cable assignments and recording all changes to both outside and inside phone room
Maintains inventory and stock of the Telecom MDF and each IDF
Work with other telecom team members in various locations to keep the abreast of projects or issues
Write detailed scripts for call routing for departments: Retirement, GBS, HR..Etc
Supports telecommunications networks by providing insight on telephone communications services and projects and assisting in ensuring the proper allocation and retention of adequate spare and reserve capacity of network resources
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers
Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of and development of skills to engage with coworkers
Remains current with telecommunications industry standards and principles through regular review and study of materials on the telecom
Helps to assure the overall success of Networking and Telecommunications by performing all other duties as assigned
Does scripting for multiple departments in the building supported locally and other functions located in the US and international
Responsible for the Executive Leadership Team and their assistants’ AVAYA desk phones
Requirements:
5+ years of telecom experience
3+ years of Avaya experience
Very knowledge of Avaya Aura components, including Communication Manager, Session Manager, System Manager and scripting
Extensive knowledge AND experience of Avaya equipment and toolset
Avaya one-X Agent (2.5.16)
Avaya CMS Supervisor Client (R21.0)
Avaya Integrated Management
Must have excellent communication and people skills
Rapid troubleshooting and replacement of executive-specific hardware, such as high-end conference room systems and specialized VOIP handsets
The ability to remain calm and apply logical thinking to resolve complex system faults when working with executives
Flexing to shifting priorities and urgent requests, often outside of standard business hours
Deep understanding of VoIP, SIP trunking, and network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/TCP) to resolve latency or audio quality issues instantly
