The Automation Specialist for the Husky Plant plays a mission‑critical role in ensuring the stable, efficient, and high‑performing operation of Husky injection‑molding systems used in preform manufacturing. This role safeguards the reliability of mechanical, electrical, and automation components while ensuring that all equipment operates within optimal process parameters to achieve consistent product quality. Through expert troubleshooting, disciplined maintenance practices, and strong engineering capability, the Automation Specialist reduces downtime, improves asset availability, supports operational continuity, and ensures all systems comply with safety, environmental, and food‑safety standards. This role also contributes to fast and accurate mold changeovers, effective process setup, spare‑parts readiness, and world‑class housekeeping.
Job Responsibility:
Execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs in line with Husky standards, checklists, and schedules to ensure equipment operates safely and reliably
Identify failure modes in machine sub‑units and promptly raise notifications through SAP or connected worker platforms
Correct operational faults and restore machine functionality during production to minimize downtime
Set up Husky injection‑molding machines with accurate process parameters to ensure consistent, high‑quality preform production
Perform fast, efficient mold changeovers using SMED principles to support production agility
Ensure all machine structures frames, bolts, nuts, fittings, and legs remain stable, aligned, and safe
Conduct inspections using approved checklists and document findings with clear recommendations for corrective action
Maintain accurate lubrication records and ensure all lubrication activities are completed per schedule
Track spare‑parts consumption, raise inventory notifications, and support effective parts management
Perform routine maintenance on electrical panels, sensors, reflectors, safety controls, and other electrical components
Ensure all safety devices function correctly to protect people, equipment, and product integrity
Maintain full compliance with GMP, food safety procedures, environmental standards, and occupational health and safety guidelines
Monitor PRPs and oPRPs in the preform manufacturing process to prevent food‑safety risks
Maintain exceptional hygiene, housekeeping, and workplace organization aligned with Good Housekeeping practices
Ensure equipment is available for production according to schedule
Recommend improvements to enhance reliability, reduce costs, and improve effectiveness of maintenance programs
Support projects and technical initiatives that drive operational excellence and plant performance
Take on additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by engineering leadership
Requirements:
HND or BSc in Engineering or a related technical discipline
Minimum of 3 years’ hands‑on technical experience on the shop floor
Track record of supporting cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives
Strong understanding of modern manufacturing methodologies and best practices
Experience executing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks
Strong English communication skills — written and spoken
Working knowledge of computer systems and maintenance software
Solid understanding of plant HQSE requirements and operating standards
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities
Demonstrated engineering capability and reliability in technical decision‑making
Effective communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead small teams, guide technicians, and collaborate with cross‑functional partners
