The Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automated systems for manufacturing medical / pharma devices, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. They will collaborate with various teams to integrate automation solutions, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement in production processes. They will also liaise with suppliers of automated solutions and manage finding the appropriate solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Designing and implementing automated systems, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, for medical device production
Support the acquisition of high-volume automation equipment
Leading the development and validation of automated equipment, ensuring it meets internal quality systems and regulatory requirements
Working closely with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to align automation solutions with product and process needs
Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation, including URS, FAT/SAT IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, equipment qualifications, and risk assessments
Providing technical support to resolve issues with automated systems and offering guidance to production teams
Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in manufacturing processes through automation
Implement Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, driving Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and automation strategies to enhance productivity and reduce costs
Staying current with new automation technologies and regulatory requirements
Provide solutions for process improvement working in conjunction with the Continuous Improvement / Technical Support Manager and appropriate Projects Manager
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by collaborating with R&D and Design teams, ensuring smooth integration into manufacturing with automation as required
Coach and develop the Engineering Team, ensuring performance reviews, appropriate development and training plans are executed to ensure departmental progress understanding of automation
Requirements:
Level 6 in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial etc)
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, including planning, execution, and documentation
Strong understanding of automation principles, control systems, robotics, and data management
Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 13485) and regulatory requirements for medical devices
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse team
