The Control Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of control systems for advanced robotic automation projects. This role emphasizes PLC programming, robotic integration, and industrial control system design, including electrical schematics and control panel builds. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience designing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting complex automated systems in manufacturing or process environments.
Job Responsibility:
Design, program, and integrate PLC-based control systems for robotic and automated machinery
Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and I/O documentation
Design and oversee the build of control panels, ensuring compliance with relevant electrical and safety standards
Specify and configure hardware components such as PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, sensors, and safety devices
Develop structured and well-documented PLC code using IEC 61131-3 standard programming languages (Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart, and Instruction List)
Program using major PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens, Beckhoff, or Mitsubishi
Design and program HMI/SCADA systems for intuitive operation, diagnostics, and data visualization
Integrate and program industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots, etc.) into automated cells
Develop motion control logic and establish robust communication between robots and PLC systems
Lead on-site installation, startup, and system validation at customer facilities
Troubleshoot control systems (hardware and software), identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
Provide training and technical support to maintenance and production teams
Serve as a technical lead, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software teams
Contribute to project planning, documentation, and timeline management
Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, NFPA, CE)
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field
15 years of experience in industrial control system design and PLC programming
Proven experience with robotic automation systems and motion control applications
Demonstrated ability to create electrical drawings and build or oversee the build of control panels
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus TCP, etc.)
Familiarity with machine and functional safety systems
Proficient in IEC 61131-3 programming languages (LD, ST, FBD, SFC, IL)
Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, etc.)
Ability to design and interpret electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills for both electrical and software systems
