Job Description

The Automation Architect who will provide guidance and oversight on the strategic use of Automation solutions to support our Business workstreams. At BDO, we recognise that through the adoption of Automation technology, we can grow our client base to increase the quality of our business processes and to reduce operational risk. You will play a lead role in our team’s ambition to deliver the Automation strategy using Automation & AI technologies. You will understand how Automation compliments existing IT applications and how it can help support the wider Architectural strategy of an organisation. We are actively expanding our AI capability, and a significant part of your role will involve designing solutions that use Agentic AI to support our wider business challenges. Through this role, you will play a vital part in helping to shape the future of Automation at a large global accountancy & professional services firm.

Job Responsibility

  • Defining the roadmap for Automation in line with the BDO IT Strategy and feed into wider architecture team
  • Acting as an evangelist for Automation and to identify new Automation opportunities across the business
  • Leading the UK Automation Centre of Excellence which provides governance and compliance of all automation processes and solutions
  • Mentoring and leading our Automation delivery team
  • Leading and designing the architecture of Automation solutions and to represent Automation at a wider Architectural level at Technology Design Assurance meetings
  • Supporting initial feasibility of potential Automation processes through until the implementation stage

Requirements

  • Proven experience of designing Automation & AI solutions (ie Orchestration, LLM, RPA, OCR)
  • Experience of leading Automation & AI technology stacks. Ideally UiPath but we would also value experience across Blue Prism, Appian, Azure, MS Platform or others
  • Experience with both On Premise and Cloud implementation and architectural patterns
  • Understanding of complex workflow-based logic and the ability to translate business requirements into a strategic or technical Automation outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate and present technical details to a non- technical audience
  • Strong written skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing ethical AI practices and governance frameworks to ensure responsible use of AI technologies, including considerations for bias, transparency, and accountability
  • Experience of modelling software beneficial (i.e., SparX or LeanIX)
