We are now looking for a Field Technician. This role is responsible for the coordination, management, and execution of Field Services activities in support of other Service Functions (SF) within Operations and Engineering. The primary focus is on in-site activities to ensure services provided to customers remain continuously available and meet defined Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance levels. This is a local role, predominantly involving on-site support for Operations and some SIP functions—particularly in connection with engineering or deployment activities. Additionally, the Field Technician is expected to ensure all work is executed in compliance with Project OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Respond to corrective network problems by performing effective and efficient problem analysis, rapid troubleshooting, diagnosis, and prompt repair of equipment to ensure service restoral objectives are met
Coordinate with other technicians and departments as required to maintain service levels
Plan and implement preventive maintenance routines to ensure network performance standards are met
Perform cutovers and upgrades on the network as directed by work orders
Maintain up-to-date site documentation as outlined by the EWO initiative
Perform acceptance tests on newly installed sites and equipment to ensure results meet design specifications
Gain in-depth knowledge of key quality service indicators within the geographic area of responsibility
Participate in retune activities related to network optimization and build projects
Maintain inventory of required parts and perform regular audits to ensure availability
Complete administrative reporting, including mileage, timesheets, expenses, equipment logs, and deficiency ticket updates
Test hand-offs, RSSI, transmit levels on mobiles, monitor dropped calls, and investigate any performance changes
Document activities for future assessment and analysis
Maintain current documentation of site status and complete trouble tickets, incident reports, and other required documentation
Shift work, overtime, and 24-hour on-call support are required on a regular rotational basis
Requirements:
Bachelor’s, Diploma or Certificate degree in Electronics or any other related field
Two plus years of experience in the telecommunications industry
Certification related to EHS/OHS (Environmental, Health & Safety / Occupational Health & Safety)
Knowledge of service networks, including GSM, WCDMA, and LTE
Understanding of service and service application implementation/integration
Familiarity with site-related issues
Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of multivendor telecommunications equipment
Awareness and adherence to Ericsson Life Saving Rules
Proven understanding of instructions, standard operating procedures, and processes
Experience with: Hazard identification and risk assessment
Accident investigation or root cause analysis (RCA)
Working at heights, including climbing and tower access
RF/EMF awareness
Lone work requirements
First Aid
Responsible driving and vehicle inspection
Nice to have:
Microwave and Transmission experience (e.g., DS1, DS2, DS3) would be beneficial
Knowledge of Optical Fibre, SONET, and TCP/IP is required
