Job Description:

AK Teaching are working with two large SEND schools in the Sunderland area who are seeking Autism Support Workers to support children in the classroom. This role will be to start in the new academic year, September 2025. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting individuals with Autism by implementing tailored care plans and facilitating their development in a nurturing environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide essential support to children with autism
  • Implement individualised care plans to foster their development and well-being
  • There may be an element of personal care involved

Requirements:

  • Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, no weekends or school holidays
  • If you don't currently hold a fully enhanced DBS on the update service, you will need to apply for a fully enhanced DBS

  • Support with practical tasks such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, and household management
  • Foster positive social interactions, offering emotional support, promoting self-regulation, and helping individuals build confidence
  • Use autism-specific techniques and strategies to support sensory needs and manage behaviors
  • Assist with personal care tasks when required
  • Help with domestic tasks, including cleaning, cooking, and ensuring a comfortable living environment
