Job Description:

A caring and inclusive mainstream primary school in Billingshurst is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to support pupils with ASC and additional needs across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. This school has a strong SEND provision and works closely with families, the SENCO and external professionals to ensure every child feels understood and supported.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with autism
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and daily routines
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams
  • Supporting positive behaviour strategies and sensory needs

Requirements:

  • Has experience supporting children with autism or SEND (school, care or personal experience)
  • Is calm, patient and resilient
  • Wants to develop specialist SEND experience within a supportive school
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services
